Do You Need To Relearn How To Walk

If you’ve ever watched robots walking, you’ll be aware of the fact it doesn’t resemble a human walking

They’re definitely getting better than they were even 5-10 years ago, but they’re still not great.

The reason for this is that early robotics tried to calculate joint angles and the torque required to walk - and then programme that in.

The problem? That’s not how humans walk

What actually happens is a continuous prediction and correction model - we predict the next state, sense what actually happened, correct errors, repeat

If you’re walking on unstable ground, your body uses the feedback to then decide what to contract, relax etc

Now, compare that to how we are told to run a business?

It’s ‘these are the steps you must take and you’ll have a successful £10k+ month business with amazing systems, non-stop leads and dad will finally tell you he’s proud of you’ (he won’t)

Building a business is actually a lot more like human locomotion

We have predictions for what we think will happen, we act, we get feedback from the business senses, we then adjust in a small or big way to continue.

Most people no longer run their business like this, or even think like this

And just like the robots - they fall flat on their face.
