I Need More Problems

As business owners, we often bemoan the problems that we have in our business

We think about how nice a 9-5 would be sometimes, just to have a few days of someone else telling us what to focus on, and it not really mattering how much we do day to day.

(Or, if we’re honest - we sometimes fantasise about a non-fatal, non-disgusting medical condition where we need to be hospitalised for a couple of days, and physically can’t work.‘I’ve broken my leg and can’t do anything but lie down and read? Oh, shame…’)

But the reality is, there’s one problem in our business that is the WORST - and it should be avoided at all costs

And that’s not having problems

Wait, what?

Think about it - problems in your business mean that you’re trying to move something forward, but there’s a bottleneck or barrier that’s stopping you.

This feels shit - everyone else on Instagram has perfect easy businesses, why don’t mine feel like that?!

But having problems and things stopping you are a sign that you’re moving forward - it’s when you don’t feel you have many problems, that it’s a problem

(Have I said problem too many times?)

Businesses at their core are just a vehicle to provide solutions to the problems of the customer - if you’re not doing that, well.. your business has a (you guessed it) problem.

So knowing that problem, and overcoming any obstacles to solving that problem for people - is a sign of a healthy business.

It could be getting in front of more people who need your solution, getting clearer on how you describe the solution, finding ways that solve smaller issues within the problem

All of these are good! But if you feel like you’re a bit stuck, and you can’t see the problem you’re solving?

That’s the first (and most important) problem to solve.
