Nobody Ever Called It Human Slop
If a tree falls and nobody hears it, does it fall?
If someone declares that their work is ‘all me, no AI’, but it’s still slop - does it matter?
I’m not for AI or against AI in content
I’m for AI being used to improve the output, I’m against AI being used to create all of it.
This does not differ from my stance on content more generally, though.
I’m for humans writing unique, insightful, entertaining stuff
I’m against humans just copying the same five tips that everyone else posts, writing the same hooks, telling everyone ‘I don’t know who needs to hear this / here’s what nobody tells you’
Slop is slop.
If it’s human slop, why would I be any less annoyed than if it’s AI slop?
Who typed it is a terrible measure of whether something is good or not.
Having something worth saying doesn’t make you good at content.
Being ‘good at content’ doesn’t mean you’ve got anything worth saying
They were always two separate skills.
They just used to be bundled, because to share ideas you had to produce the output with ideas in.
AI commoditised the creation, and didn’t really touch the ideas bit for most people.
Writing got easier, having something to say didn’t move much.
So we now ‘hate AI slop’, but don’t talk about ‘human slop’
Where people regurgitate shit trends, hooks and other algorithmic bollocks - all fine as long as the person themselves typed it?
I use AI as part of my process - but if something I shared was forgettable? It was because the idea was, not because AI made it forgettable
Test yourself with one question, before worrying about AI-ness
