The Red Queens Of Coaching

In Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking-Glass, the Red Queen tells Alice,

It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place

In evolutionary biology, it describes how species must constantly adapt just to maintain their position, because their competitors and environment are also evolving

Standing still is falling behind

If that isn’t a metaphor for coaching in the age of the internet and AI

Everyone has access to the same tools

Everyone can do the same courses

Everyone can use the same DM scripts, sales call tactics and algorithm-optimised content

We’re in a position where it feels more important than ever to be ahead of the competition

But harder than ever to do it - the floor is moving so fast beneath your feet, and it’s tiring running that quick for that long.

The pace that everything is moving at means that where creativity used to be a competitive edge you gained once?

It’s now a metabolic requirement

The ongoing capacity to evolve is the thing that prevents extinction

The ‘uncreative coach’ isn’t losing slowly

They’re expending maximum effort to stay still while the ground moves beneath them

Considering how important creativity now is for survival?

It’s amazing how little of it we see in the fitness space

This will change in the next year - but it’ll probably be too late for some

Particularly those who’ve outsourced thinking, writing and coaching to ChatGPT already.

We can argue later whether the people who have passed off all 3 of these things, deserve to have a business at all

For now?

Think about how often you share your ideas - and how you can optimise for this
