There's A Reason It's Called Call To Action
This comes from a conversation we had on one of the Strong Collective Mentoring calls a week or two ago
We were discussing call to action, how many you should do, whether you should do them on every single post, what they should be etc.
And I made the point that I think we forget that it’s called call to action
Whereas we always in our head, consciously or unconsciously think of it as a call to buy.
If you look at how people use them, even if the action we’re getting them to take is not immediately to buy from us or ‘DM us for coaching’
(or whichever terrible call to action we use - and I’ve used some bad ones in the past)
It’s still ‘Comment X’ to be sent a lead magnet, service, offer we’re launching.
Obviously we can use those call to actions if we are currently pushing or launching something.
But if we’re just putting ‘DM me for coaching’ at the end of every single post?
We’ve lost sight of what the point of a call to action is.
We also have the issue that if people see something too frequently? They just stop paying attention to it.
What I would get people to think about is it’s a call to action.
If some of your posts are about you sharing your opinion, highlighting things that you see in the industry or in your niche, or just explaining your view of the world
(They definitely should be - So if you don’t have these kind of posts, that’s the first thing to fix.)
Then the call to action can be, ‘I want you to think about.’
‘I’d be interested to hear’. ‘Take some time to consider’.
What you might find is actually these kind of posts lead to way more comments - either on the post or in your DMs - telling you what they think about it
Than if you tell people to comment, or you tell people to comment a certain word to use your automation.
The power that we have with AI and automation is incredible
But we also forget about the power to not use it and to be judicious in our using of these things.
So we can use them to deliver something quickly, we can use them to segment people, we can use them to do unbelievable things in our business
But we can also choose to not use them and offer something much more like human connection
And call people to action without actually specifically telling them to do anything - by being intentional with the caption that we write.
