Yesterday Was A First For Me
I thought of, edited, created and downloaded an Instagram carousel I made
Using just my voice
Was it perfect? Definitely not.
It was also repurposed from a long-form piece that I’d already written - so I just had to tell ClaudeCode to find the article I’d stored in my Idea Factory and repurpose it
It did that, and then wrote it using an in-depth style guide, voice guide and ton of examples I’d given it.
Design-wise it isn’t great - it did a great job of matching my style, but then my style isn’t great! It’s just an ugly carousel template.
But still - to be able to just speak an idea into existence in the world is wild.
It made me think that any coach can literally do this - it took me about an hour to build the capabilities, and then maybe 30s to create the post.
I’ll likely refine the prompt further to get better output in the future.
Eventually though - there’ll be a cloud-based subscription of some sort that allows you to do this.
Whether Canva’s API improves and becomes more powerful, or someone comes to disrupt it - it’s going to happen
I welcome that - because when we can ship more, better, faster?
Only one thing will matter.
I would rather lose a ‘technological edge’ that I have, and trade that for a world where the ideas matter more.
The tools are going to evolve, improve, change, grow and fundamentally alter how we share our thoughts - it might not even be via Instagram in the future.
But it’s always going to have to be your opinions and ideas
Connections
- [[The Four Levels of AI Maturity for Coaches]] — Voice-to-shipped-content is Level 4 in action. The AI knows the voice guide, the style guide, knows where to find the article in the vault — it’s integrated into the thinking and creating process, not just a tool opened when stuck.
- [[Senior developers get more from AI than juniors]] — The hour spent building capabilities = the expertise investment. The 30 seconds to create = the disproportionate return. A coach without the long-form piece, the voice guide, and the style examples would get nothing from the same process. The “force” being multiplied is the existing IP.
- [[What is creativity]] — “When we can ship more, better, faster — only one thing will matter” = ideas. This spark is evidence for the creativity thesis. The tools will commoditise. The ideas won’t. Voice-to-carousel is the delivery mechanism. The worldview is the product.
- [[The Lionel Messi of Content]] — If shipping becomes trivially easy, the “distance covered” metric (volume of content) becomes meaningless. Everyone can produce volume. The Messi-like advantage shifts to: which 3 ideas are worth shipping? Quality of thought becomes the only differentiator.
- [[ABP Live Day]] — Marketplace sophistication Level 6 (AI Builds) is the logical next step. Voice → carousel today. Voice → interactive tool tomorrow. The format evolves, but the principle stays: the ideas are the moat.
- [[Have I spread myself too thin?]] — Voice-to-shipped solves the “do them all” problem mechanically. If creating takes 30 seconds, bandwidth isn’t the constraint anymore. Clarity of thinking is.
Tensions
- If everyone can ship in 30 seconds, what’s left? The thesis says “ideas matter more.” But ideas are also shareable, copyable, remixable. The real moat might not be the ideas themselves but the system that produces new ideas continuously — the Idea Factory as competitive advantage, not any single output.
