Behaviour Engineer

There are a few stories from history of people who who invented things early because they were just obsessed with how stuff worked

George Nissen created trampolines aged 16 Chester Greenwood invented earmuffs aged 15 Louis Braille invented Braille aged 15 Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were known to tinker incessantly as children, obsessively curious

Young inventors and engineers are curious about how things work from a very young age - they’re the kids who’d be outside building things, or taking apart their mum’s toaster to try and put it back together again

I’ve recently realised that I feel a lot like a ‘Behaviour Engineer’

I couldn’t give a toss how things work (I have zero practical skills)

But I’m obsessed with how people work

Why do we make decisions What makes us buy, eat, fight, love, do, not do

I think the best coaches are behaviour engineers

The macros, training split and sleep hygiene are just tools. They’re a means to an end

The end being the behaviour of an individual

The problem for coaches is that they stop their behavioural curiosity at food

Or habits. Or training. Or lifestyle

When actually that curiosity is one of the most important things for your business

Why do your ideal clients buy What do they resonate with What sort of community do they like What do they believe How do they view their shortcomings with fitness What is their worldview

Don’t let your curiosity about people, stop at their health behaviours

It’s likely limiting your business
