How To Save A Life
A friend of mine was a life saver.
He taught first-aid courses and had both saved a life, and collected stories of others who’d saved lives after taking his course.
People chose his course over every other first-aid option, sending referrals and recommendations.
When I asked what made his course special, he spoke of “the dance” - not a physical dance, but the stand-up routine, the choreography that let him control when people laughed, why they laughed, and when they snapped back to attention.
That should be our content: deliberately moving our audience’s emotions, telling a story and deciding what we want them to feel at each beat.
The more we do it, the more we shape how they feel and how they act.
