If You Want To Be Creative, Understand This

Lots of people want to be creative. Carl Ally said the true creative wants to know about everything because they’re not sure when those ideas might come together at some point in the future, but they’re sure it will happen, whether that’s six minutes or six years down the road.

If new ideas are combinations of existing ideas, the more connections we create, the more ideas we can generate. The problem that people are finding with AI is they are using it to be creative in the sense of they are just asking it for ideas, and that’s not really what creativity is. Creativity is born from your own ideas and then using AI potentially to help you flesh them out or to make comparisons or see patterns in your own thinking that you’ve missed.

If you want to be more creative, you can use AI, but it can’t exclusively be with AI. You have to have the curiosity and the interest to want to know everything without the immediate ‘why will this benefit me right now’ and just be curious about everything, knowing that at some point in the future it’s probably going to help you.
