Although we might marvel at his brain and feel that deep down we could never think like that
(Or you might want to look in his brain and see what parts of him are lizard, depending on your POV)
One thing you can steal is his criteria for testing things
He uses the ‘one-way door’ concept to distinguish decisions that are difficult or impossible to reverse from those that can be easily undone.
One-way door decisions are high-impact, potentially irreversible moves - like launching a major new business line, building a brick and mortar space or giving up and doing something else
Everything else? Two-way doors
Decisions that can be reversed or amended with no real lasting consequences.
On these decisions, Bezos recommends acting quickly, experimenting and empowering team members to make decisions without top-heavy oversight.
If you’re feeling stuck - Think of a test to run If you’re not sure if something will work? Ask if the impact will be permanent, and if not - test. If you think something ‘won’t really make a difference’ - you’re guessing. Test it.
Even for clients, this mindset can help them troubleshoot some of their barriers and obstacles!
