Show Your Working

Coaches spend years finding different angles to teach their clients the same things

Which is one of the reasons why they search for viral hooks, trending audios, the best templates and other ‘hacks’

Because when you just teach information, you’re getting into a race to the bottom on who can shout the loudest

And when engagement drops, we do posts bemoaning people for following fads, jumping on trends and not ‘building habits’

However, the blame and responsibility is solely on us.

We don’t teach our audience how to think.

Which means they watch our content - but they also watch a variety of other, less informed people who shout louder

The opportunity in front of us, is to teach our audience not what we know, but how to think like we do

Show your reasoning - explain why something works, what assumptions it rests on, and where it might break

This stops them getting hijacked by fads

They start trusting your logic

They become thinkers - they can handle nuance

There are 3 benefits of this

They will look out for your content because they’re being educated in a way that’s different to everyone else, which they’ll love

They will message you saying ‘I saw this and I thought - What would X say about it? And then decided against doing it.

Once they do sign up for coaching? They’ll be fully engaged because they know your style of thinking, and they’re in a position to embrace the messiness of change - without immediately jumping to another all or nothing solution when things get hard
