You're Not An Emergency Service
You’re a coach, and this pretence that you need to check messages every hour of the day is you procrastinating by feeling like you’re doing something productive when you’re not.
I work with a lot of people in very busy, very volatile and very high-velocity corporate jobs, and they still manage to have 90-minute, two-hour windows where people cannot contact them. These tools that allow for instant contact are a problem for a lot of people when it comes to productivity.
As a coach, you have even less need for this always-on messaging. You need to check your messages once, maybe twice per day. Everything else should be messages away.
What am I focusing on with work?
