AI Enhanced Thinking
I’ve listened to hundreds of self-help books, podcasts, talks, consumed probably days of self-help content. It feels really good in the moment in the same way that your audience probably feel really good when they read your content, when they are thinking about losing weight or getting fitter.
But if you asked me to repeat 1% of what I’d heard in self-help stuff, I couldn’t, it evaporates.
Most of it is just surface level repetition of the same idea said in the same way
‘Have no fear’, ‘Feel fear and do it anyway’ etc. Most of it’s just boring nonsense.
The stuff that does stick is different.
This year at Nudgestock, I watched a talk where Maz Farrelly said something that I think about almost every day
She said that she will think longer and harder than everyone else. She will outthink people. Everyone else will stop at two o’clock. She’ll stop at eight or nine o’clock at night.
And that line always changes how I create. It changes so much of what I do. It is stuck in my brain.
Now, she had stories, hard-won experience from years in the broadcasting industry and a clear point of view. A lot of people don’t have that yet. So in a way, she did have an advantage in that she could combine all of her experience and the time she spends thinking.
But that’s where AI is actually useful - not to give you 20 to 90 posts a day, but to help you think longer and harder than anyone else in the industry will.
So you can use it to push your angle further, to build better stories around your point, to give clarity on who you’re talking to and how you want them to feel.
None of that is about volume of posts. Use it to do the thinking that other coaches are too rushed, or too distracted, or too lazy to do.
Content probably needs to take you longer and that’s okay. I don’t know many coaches who overthink their work.
They overthink everything about their work, sharing it, coaching it, the business of it.
No one’s actually overthinking the underpinning ideas that they’re trying to work with in the first place.
