Same Same Same Same Same Same Same

I’ve been getting a bit of social media fatigue recently

Not in terms of creating content myself - I still enjoy that

But I just think a lot of the content out there is very dull

(You might think mine is and that’s fine - each to their own, right?)

I do think the social media sameness is indicative of a larger problem, in that all coaching businesses are doing the same thing

They’re run the same way, coach the same way, communicate in the same way

Which means that the industry hits a local maxima

Essentially this means that we can’t ever progress because everyone is doing the same things, in the same ways

Now as a nutritionist, I can’t stand the UPF supermarket cockwombles

But as an observer of the industry in terms of coaching businesses? I don’t think it’s a bad thing!

It gives the industry something else to talk about

So have GLP-1s

And to a lesser extent, AI

(Because most people do not understand AI at all, and the only coaches posting about it bore on about how it can’t replace them or coach as well as them. Which is frankly quite tedious, but also comes across as very defensive and not particularly authoritative to an audience)

Local maxima like this get broken by fresh terrain

Either something external (A new debate the field has to engage in)

Or something internal (Somebody in the industry refuses to repeat the consensus and forces a new conversation)

Most coaches are waiting for the first

There’s an unbelievable opportunity for attention, impact and financial gain for those who take it upon themselves to force something new
